  • An Important Thing to Consider When Buying Foreign Exchange Student Insurance

Pursuing your studies abroad? Don’t forget the foreign exchange student insurance because you will definitely need it.

Not only will it comply with your university’s requirement, it will be vital in helping you financially, in case any health emergencies occur. Regardless of whether you believe you need it or not, you will not be accepted at your program without it.

It is important for a new foreign exchange student to know what to consider when choosing health insurance. The first thing to consider would be if the university will acknowledge health insurance that has been purchased from the home country, as there are universities that only accept health insurance from affiliate insurance companies.

For instance, foreign exchange programs in New Zealand allow its students to buy a comprehensive medical insurance only from the university. There are also universities that accept third party foreign exchange student insurance as long as it meets the requirements that the school has set.
