  • Group policies for International Exchange Students

To get a chance to study in another country as an exchange student is a matter of great pride. To be able to study, earn a degree, learn a new language, experience a new culture and to be an ambassador of one's country in the place of studying is really a rare opportunity not available to everyone.

Buying health insurance that covers health care expenditure in the country of study is essential because domestic health care policies generally don't cover costs incurred overseas.

If two to five (or more) students are part of a group of exchange students, it makes sense to buy a group health care policy for all the members of the group as it is easier to track than individual policies. The policies can also cover dependents accompanying the insured students.

Depending on the duration of stay, the group policy can be purchased for a period of 1 month to 2 years. Group members have the flexibility of having different start and end dates (as long as the dates are within the coverage period). Many group policies offer emergency evacuation and repatriation along with medical expenses.

Proof of having a group health insurance is mandatory in some states. Travel with coverage, enjoy your stay. Commenting is not available in this channel entry.
