  • Insurance to Fill the Gap Between Study and Work

When you’ve finished full time study and you’re not yet in work, optional practical training (OPT) is a great way to boost your skills and gain valuable work experience. OPT is a work permit for F-1 students who no longer study full time. OPT puts you in a good position to seek work as you’ve enhanced your classroom knowledge with practical know-how.

Most educational establishments don’t provide student health insurance to international students on optional practical training. When you no longer study full time your insurance benefits can disappear, which could be disastrous if illness or injury strikes. But don’t worry, OPT insurance exists to help you while you’re helping yourself with additional training.

OPT insurance covers you until you’re in work and receiving insurance from your employer. You can choose from various plans covering up to $1 million in medical expenses. Bonuses on the optional practical training insurance include coverage for hospitalization, surgery, prescription drugs, evacuation and repatriation.

Whether your OPT placement lasts five days or a year, OPT insurance makes sure you’re covered on the final phase of your international education.
